Counterfeit Kit Challenge – September 2017 – Guest Designer – Kit Share

Check out my kit share video on my channel here.

Happy Friday 🙂 Can you believe its September already? Time flies. And now its time for a new Counterfeit Kit Challenge. I was so excited to be asked to be this months guest designer. I got hooked on CKC back in June when I put together a kit that I used all month. I became known for my inclusion of tissue paper which you’ll be glad to know is, of course, in my kit this month too.

So our kit for this month is the Studio Calico – Lost River kit from September 2016. Back then I was actually a subscriber to their documenter kit (the project life version) so you’ll see a few original pieces in my kit. Don’t worry though they’re only tiny, the majority of my kit is counterfeit.

I started off by looking at the Lost River kit and the documenter kit from September to see what types of product to include and then looked at the papers.

I went for a mix of green, black and whites and a bit of orange. I’m aware that we are coming into Autumn and that I’m going to be using this kit for my photos from a trip to Northern Ireland so I really enjoyed changing my usual pink and gold colour palette to these lovely forest/river colours. I even have a piece that has tents and campervans on.

I also built a kit of Project Life cards from the Wild Whisper – Adventure range, Project Life – Picturesque, Pebbles, Jen Hadfield – Cosy, various Ali Edwards kits, Brandi Kincaid – Homebodies and some Studio Calico ones (a few from the Lost River Documenter Kit). I mainly do Project Life so I knew I needed a lot to choose from. I noticed in the Documenter kit there was a balance of outdoor vs indoor attitudes so I went for the same sort of balance. The Wild Whisper cards are very outdoorsy and the Brandi cards are very indoorsy. I love that I can cover both with the same kit and even mix them on the same page.

After my papers I chose some large sticker sheets, an Autumn themed one and a travel themed one. I must use some of those travel stickers on my N.Ireland photos. I also added a sheet of labels, because I use them all over and a few sheets of my favoured tissue paper, in blue, yellow, green and two patterned ones, butterflies and owls.

I also chose a stamp set because SC always have a stamp in there. I’m kind of gutted that I decided I was never going to be a stamper and got rid of all my stamps including the set that came with the Documenter kit as it was a great one and now I stamp quite a bit. Instead I added in this Kelly Purkey – Spring Break one for the ‘road trip’, ‘escape’ and ‘let yourself rest’ stamps.

I put in a few washi tapes to choose from, a grey one with a touch of pink, black with gold foil triangles, a green floral which doesn’t get much use because I didn’t realise it was almost used up and a blue chevron. I do still have the numbers washi that came in the documenter kit but its still sealed, its a bit big for my liking.

Then I added a whole load of random embellishments from all over my stash. Acrylic pieces from Bramble Fox, Alphas from Ali Edwards, Stampin up doilies, word phrase stickers & strips from Studio Calico, sequins from Lucy’s Cards, Freckled Fawn enamel dots, labels from various places, some My Minds Eye bits, die cuts from all over the place, some Ali Edwards cork stars and a lone ampersand paperclip from the documenter kit.

I am so looking forward to using this kit with my Autumn and Road Trip photos. I needed something to get me off the spring colours I’ve been obsessed with all year and this is definitely it. I am in love!

Make sure to check out everyone else’s blogs in the hop to see the different kits we will be using all month.

You can find the main Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog here.  If you didn’t come to me from the main blog make sure to check it out as you can see the whole blog hop list from there.

And you can hop along to Julene’s blog here as she is next up.

Thanks for checking out my kit as guest designer this month and enjoy building your kit.

Jess 🙂

  1. Very cool kit! I love what they chose for the Counterfeit Kit this month – I’m already thinking what I’d include in mine. Hope I actually have time to join, since it’s been too long a break for me. I’m really inspired now to continue with my own travel album!

I also want to tell you that I enjoyed how you describe your choices in such detail – I always prefer reading bloggers whose posts also have a story and not just the pictures!

  2. So happy to have you with us this month! First of all, that tissue paper is gorgeous – I will have to remember to look for patterned ones to include in future kits. Your pocket cards were especially true to the inspiration kit and how great that you’ll be documenting what sounds like a wonderful trip. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this month!

  4. Hello lovely lady! Well, what can I say? It’s a beautiful kit (and bountiful, as well, I might add!) You certainly have a lot to choose from this month!

It’s nice to hear that some of the kit was still lying around – waiting to be dusted off and lovingly included in a Counterfeit Kit. (I totally wish I had bought the Lost River Kit, hence my choice to counterfeit it!)

I hope that you’ll enjoy playing along with us this month. It’s been fantastic to work with you as our Guest Designer!
